Daman Police Conducts Extensive Hotel and Guest House Checks Ahead of Independence“Day“
Date: 02.08.2025“In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations and to ensure public safety and security,“Daman Police conducted intensive checking of hotels, guest houses, and homestays across the“district. The operation was carried out as a preventive security measure to check unauthorised“occupancy, suspicious activities, and ensure compliance with Magistrate orders issued under“Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for such establishments.“A total of 20 checking teams under concerned SHOs, each comprising 3–4 Constables/Head“Constables and one ASI/PSI, were deployed for the operation on the night of 01.08.2025. These“teams conducted thorough checks at more than 200 establishments to verify the identity of“guests, ensure proper record-keeping, staff verification, working of CCTV cameras in common“areas, and to detect any criminal or immoral activities.
The entire operation was conducted under“the direct supervision of SP, Daman and overall guidance of SDPO, Daman.“Efforts were made to ensure that the privacy and dignity of law-abiding guests were respected,“and checks were conducted in a professional and non-intrusive manner.“During the checking drive, more than 100 suspicious persons were verified to rule out any criminal“antecedents or unlawful intent.“Multiple violations of the Magistrate orders issued under Section 163 BNSS were found.“Accordingly, 8 FIRs under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been“registered against the violators.

The guest register“lacked proper entries, and no ID documents“were collected—indicating rental without“mandatory verification.“This violates Collector Daman’s Order No.“Col/DMN/MAG/EST/163-BNSS-2023/2024-“25/1700 dated 28/07/2025.“In one case, liquor stored without a valid permit was found at Thakor Guest House, Jampore, Moti“Daman, and the same was seized on the spot by informing the Excise Department officials.“Daman Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring public safety and appeals to all hotel, guest“house, and homestay operators to:“? Strictly comply with legal requirements and applicable rules and regulations.“? Maintain accurate guest registers and ensure identity verification of all guests.“? Ensure police verification of all staff/employees.“? Immediately report any suspicious activity to their jurisdictional police station or through the 112 emergency helpline.
