Daman Police to Enforce Helmet Usage by Two-wheeler Riders with
Zero Tolerance Policy from 9 June 2025
In its continued efforts to promote road safety and prevent avoidable injuries and fatalities,
Daman Police urges all two-wheeler riders and pillion passengers to wear safety helmets
without exception. Wearing a helmet is a proven lifesaving measure and a legal obligation for
all motorcyclists.
To foster a culture of safety and compliance, Daman Police recently conducted a vigorous
awareness drive across the district. As part of this campaign, awareness sessions were held
at Gram Panchayats, where participants were also administered the ‘Helmet Safety Pledge’,
reinforcing their commitment to responsible riding.
Despite these efforts, instances of helmet rule violations remain a concern. Therefore, Daman
Police will implement a Zero Tolerance Policy for helmet non-compliance, effective 9 June

  1. Key enforcement measures include:
    On-the-spot challans will be issued to all riders and pillion riders found without helmets.
  • A fine of $1,000 will be imposed for each violation, as per the Motor Vehicles Act.
  • In addition, the driving licence of the violator will be suspended for a period of 3
    months.
  • Helmet violations, alongwith other violations of Traffic Rules such as Triple Riding, No
    Parking, Overspeeding, etc., will also be automatically captured by ANPR (Automatic
    Number Plate Recognition) cameras installed at designated locations under the Safe
    City Project, and challans will be issued electronically, by SMS, at the registered mobile
    numbers of the owners of vehicles.

    clicking at the given link.

Daman Police appeals to all residents to comply with helmet safety and other Traffic rules not
merely to avoid penalties, but to safeguard their own lives and the lives of their loved ones.
