Kachigam Police Station prevent a major Theft case from ATM Machine-One

Kachigam Police Station successfully prevented a major theft attempt involving
an ATM loaded with *59 lakhs in cash. One accused has been arrested, and other two
minors will be apprehended as per procedure.
Case Details:
On 06/02/2025, FIR No. 42/2025 was registered at Kachigam Police Station
under Sections 305, 324(4), 62, 331(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,
2023, based on a complaint by Shri Badrinath, Manager, State Bank of India, Somnath Branch, Daman.
The complainant reported that two unidentified persons attempted to break
open ATM machines at Kalariya Junction, Center Point Building, Shop No. 01, using
an iron ‘gaiti’. The ATMs contained 59 lakhs in cash, and damages worth
approximately 80,000 were caused to the machines.
Investigation & Arrest:
Considering the gravity of the offence, multiple police teams were formed under
the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Daman Shri Ketan Bansal, IPS, and
the SDPO, Daman, Smt. Tanu Sharma, led by the SHO, Kachigam Police Station, Shri
Shashi Kumar Singh. Over 100 CCTV footages were examined, along with technical analysis and based on secret information, revealing that:
Two accused entered the ATM to commit theft. A third accused waited outside
with a motorcycle.
Based on secret intelligence and technical tracking, police identified and
apprehended Hitesh Kandara s/o Bhera Ram, resident of Chikuwadi, Kachigam, who was riding the getaway motorcycle (Reg. No. GJ-15-EK-2969). The motorcycle, one mobile phone and one ‘Gaiti’ used in the crime were recovered and seized during his police custody remand under the Panchnama.
During interrogation, Hitesh confessed to planning the crime with two others –
both r/o District – Pali, Rajasthan.
He also confessed that upon noticing a police patrolling van, the accused
abandoned their plan and fled towards Vapi. Hitesh had called both accomplices to Daman on 30/07/2025, provided them shelter, and conducted reconnaissance of the target area from last few days. He is confirmed to be the mastermind of the theft attempt.
Criminal Background of Absconding Accused: Preliminary investigation reveals that both absconding persons have been
identified as minors and they are involved in multiple vehicle theft and other theft cases in Pali District, Rajasthan, out of which details of one case is FIR No.103/2025 u/s 305(a), 331(3) of BNS, 2023, PS-Sanderao, Pali, Rajasthan. Efforts are underway to apprehend them as per procedure.
Current Status:
Accused Hitesh Kandara was arrested on 08/08/2025 and remanded to police
custody by the Hon’ble Court, Daman, until 13/08/2025. Investigation is ongoing to
locate and arrest the remaining accused.
