CIRCULAR
In continuation to the Circular dated 14.09.2023 as mentioned in the preambie
above and in pursuance to the letter No. 2/8/2019-SBM IV dated 22nd September,
2023 (copy enclosed) jointly issued by the Secretary to the Govt. of India,
Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti and Secretary to
the Govt. of India, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs; as a part of Swachhata Hi
Seva (SHS) 2023,a Massive Cleanliness Drive led by People is envisaged to be
held on 1stOctober, 2023 from 10 AM onwards across the country as a tribute to
Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his Birth Anniversary on 2nd October, 2023.
In this connection, following actions are to be undertaken:
We are excited to announce a special event as part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva”
campaign, dedicated to cleanliness and community service. On 1st October 2023, a
ShraamDaan (volunteer work) competition will be held amongst government offices
to promote a cleaner and greener environment. The collective Daman team has
been named as ‘Daman Coastal Crusaders’
A. Details of the competition: Devka Beach clean-up competition among
departments of UT of DNH&DD
Date: 1st October 2023
Time: 10.00 am
Objective: efective clean-up of beach with visible cleanliness and significant
reduction in plastic and non-biodegradable substances
The primary goal of this competition is to engage our government offices in a
collective effort to contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission).
We aim to promote teamwork, community spirit, and environmental awareness
through this event.

Participation Guidelines:
- Each participating government office must assemble a team of enthusiastic
volunteers. - Teams are encouraged to bring their cleaning equipment (brooms, dustpans,
gloves, etc.), but we will also provide some basic cleaning supplies. - The competition will focus on the thoroughness and effectiveness of the cleanup
efforts, as well as the enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by each team. - Teams can bring any kind of equipment with them to effectively win the
tournament. - A detailed annexure of division of zones amongst participants shall follow this
circular
B. A similar event shall follow with each ward councillor championing its ward
members and SafaiMitras to clean a specific area in their ward. This competition
shall be ward wise and will be judged according to the before and after photographs
of the area. The ward councillors shall use the help of their supervisors and
SafaiMitras to make this event successful. Detailed annexure of particular locations
shall follow.
Prizes:
There will be attractive prizes for the winning team, including certificates of
recognition by high authrorities. Prizes will be awarded based on the judges’
evaluation of the cleanup efforts.
Let’s come together to make a significant impact on cleanliness in our community
and strengthen our commitment to the “Swachhata Hi Seva” .Together, we can
make a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
General Public / Citizens can also click pictures and upload on the event page.
Coordinators, Citizens General Public, Elected Representatives and
respective Head of Offices shall massively promote the event and post at least 10
pictures of the activities Pre and Post (Before & After Cleaning pictures) on any
Social Media Platforms such as Twitter (X) / Instagram/ Facebookwith
compulsory tagging of –

- After Completion of the event, the respective Coordinators shall close the
event on the portal before 4:00 PM on 1st October, 2023 and also submit
duly signed report as per format enclosed as Annexure – II. - All activities shall be Single Use Plastic (SUP) Free and Zero Waste
events. The Citizens / Volunteers may carry their own water bottles during
Shramdaan.
