CASE OF CHEATING AND DISHONESTLY OBTAINING GOLD ORNAMENTS
AND CASH BY INTERSTATE ORGANISED GANG (“MADARI GANG”)
THROUGH HYPNOTISM SOLVED BY KACHIGAM POLICE STATION WITHIN
48 HOURS OF REGISTRATION WITH RECOVERY
BRIEF FACTS OF THE CASE:
On 10th, 11th & 14th January, 2025, three cases of cheating through hypnotism by an interstate
fraud gang known as the “Madari Gang” were registered at Kachigam Police Station, Nani Daman.

  1. Case 1:
    That on 9th January, 2025, the victim/complainant, Ms. Ritadevi Vijay Sah (41), resident of Aatiyawad,
    Nani Daman, was approached by two strangers near Prince Garden, Nani Daman, while returning to her
    home. These two accused persons, by using hypnotism, convinced her to hand over them a gold
    pendant valued at $20,000 which was worn by her. In this connection, a FIR No. 03/2025 U/s 316(2),
    318(4), 3(5) BNS, 2023 was registered at Kachigam Police Station.
  2. Case 2:
    That on 10th January, 2025, the victim/complainant, Ms. Mira Devi Prabhu Yadav (35), r/o Kachigam,
    Daman was targeted. Two unknown accused persons deceived the complainant to give them gold
    jewellery which was worn by her by hypnotizing her near Kachigam Garden. Accordingly, the
    complainant handed over her gold earrings and pendants worth *60,000. In this connection, a case FIR
    No. 05/2025, U/s 316(2), 318(4), 3(5) BNS, 2023 was registered at Kachigam Police Station.
  3. Case 3:
    That on 14th January, 2025, the victim/complainant Ms. Asha Devi w/o Rajesh Singh, age-53 years
    resident of Somnath, Kachigam, Nani Daman was targeted on 07/12/2024. The accused hypnotized her
    near Govt. School, Dabhel and deceived her to hand over her gold earrings and pendants worth *75,000.
    In this connection, a case FIR No. 06/2025 U/s 316(2), 318(4), 3(5) BNS, 2023 was registered at Kachigam
    Police Station.
    INVESTIGATION:
    The above cases are sensitive in nature and create sense of insecurity among the pedestrians,
    especially old women. As per the directions of Shri Ketan Bansal, IPS, Hon’ble Superintendent of Police,
    Daman District, various Police teams were formed under the leadership of Shri Shashi Kumar Singh, SHO
  4. of Kachigam Police Station. More than 250 CCTV cameras were analyzed from across Vapi and Daman
  5. area by the various Police teams. Almost 80 nearby guest houses, restaurants and hotels were searched
  6. along with the footages of the CCTV cameras installed therein.
  7. Key evidence included:
  8. ➤ Footage from Guest House where the accused stayed and took food.
  9. ➤ Mobile numbers and travel routes.
  10. ➤ Identification of auto-rickshaw used in the crime.
  11. Two accused, Irfan S/o Sakir Ahmad (25) and Shikal @ Sherkhan @ Melu S/o- Parvin (22), were arrested
  12. from Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on 12-01-2025, by a team led by HC Ashish G. Trivedi and
  13. PC Mosim Khan of Kachigam Police Station, after continuously tracing their train journey from Vapi. The
  14. auto driver, Radhekumar Lato Yadav (21), who facilitated the crime, was also arrested at Kachigam
  15. Police Station on 13-01-2025.
  16. SEIZURES:

  20. 5 Pair Gold earrings
  21. One Pocket Scale [Mini Gold Calibration Machine]
  22. 1 Nos. Golden color Finger Ring
  23. Four Mobile phones
  24. Auto Rickshaw bearing registration No. GJ-15-AW-2766
    Total gold about approx 28 grams worth approx Rs. 1.70 lakhs, four mobile phones worth Rs. 40000/-,
    Gold Weight Calibration machine approx worth Rs. 500/- and auto rickshaw worth approx 1 lakhs.
    Total seized items worth Rs. 3,10,500/- approx.
    MODUS OPERANDI OF THE GANG:
    The gang primarily targets socially and economically vulnerable women by approaching them
    under the guise of spiritual guidance. They use chemical compound sodium to create deceptive “divine”
    effects, gaining the victims trust before stealing their valuables.
    GANG PROFILE:
    The accused persons have confessed committing over 200 such crimes across the country,
    targeting victims in Gujarat, Maharashtra, UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Delhi, Uttar
    Pradesh, Haryana and other regions. Known as the “Madari Gang,” they exploited vulnerable individuals
    using superstitions and hypnotism. The base of this ‘Madari Gang’ is in Faridabad, Haryana. This Gang
    targets particular areas, take shelter in Guest House and footpath near the Railway Station and then

  25. commit these kind of crimes with the help of local auto rickshaw. Recently, in the month of July and
  26. December, 2024, they had come at Vapi and had committed same kind of crime there at various
  27. locations of Valasd, Vapi, Silvassa, Umbergaon, Bhilad, Daman. Details of the accused are being shared
  28. with the respective Police forces for further investigation at their end.
  29. PROFILE OF ALL 03 ARRESTED PERSONS:-
  30. 1) Irfan Sakir Ahamad, Age-25 yrs,
  31. Native Address: Near Maszid, Village Mawai, Old Faridabad, Haryana-121002
  32. 2) Shikal @ Sherkhan @ Melu S/o- Parvin, age 22 year, Native Address: Near petrol pump, Ballabgarh,
  33. Faridabad, Haryana 121004,
  34. Past criminal Background: -03 cases have been previously registered against the accused No. 2 and the
  35. same are under crime head of Snatching, Arms Act and theft.
  36. 3) Radhekumar lato Yadav, age 22 years
  37. Present Address- opposite Star bar, Dabhel, Daman, Native Sono, Chakpathhar, Dist-Jumai, Bihar,
  38. CURRENT STATUS:
  39. All above three accused persons have been arrested and have been granted 03 days Police Custody
  40. Remand by the Hon’ble JMFC, Daman. Further investigation is in progress to trace other gang members
  41. and recover additional stolen property.
  42. APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC:
  43. The police urges citizens to remain cautious of strangers using deceptive spiritual practices and to report
  44. these kinds of suspicious activities immediately to police.
