MASTER MIND BEHIND CHEATING AND OBTAINING GOLD ORNAMENTS
AND CASH USING HYPNOTISM (“MADARI GANG”) ARRESTED BY KACHIGAM
POLICE FROM OUTER NORTH DISTRICT
BRIEF FACTS OF THE CASE:
On 10th, 11th & 14th January, 2025, three cases of cheating through hypnotism by an
interstate fraud gang known as the “Madari Gang” were registered at Kachigam Police Station,
Nani Daman.
- Case 1:
The victim, Ms. Ritadevi Vijay Sah (41), resident of Aatiyawad, Nani Daman, was
approached by two strangers near Prince Garden, Nani Daman, while returning home on
January 9, 2025. Using hypnotism, the accused convinced her to hand over a gold pendant
valued at $2,00,000. FIR No. 03/2025 was registered U/s 316(2), 318(4), 3(5) BNS, 2023 at
Kachigam Police Station. - Case 2:
Ms. Mira Devi Prabhu Yadav (35), another resident of Kachigam, was targeted on
January 10, 2025. The accused hypnotized her near Kachigam Garden and deceived her into
handing over gold earrings and pendants worth *60,000. FIR No. 05/2025 was registered U/s
316(2), 318(4), 3(5) BNS, 2023 at Kachigam Police Station. - Case 3:
Ms. Asha Devi w/o Rajesh Singh, age-53 years resident of Somnath, Kachigam, Nani
Daman, was targeted on 07/12/2024 The accused hypnotized her near Govt. School, Dabhel
and deceived her into handing over gold earrings and pendants worth 75,000. FIR No. 06/2025
was registered U/s 316(2), 318(4), 3(5) BNS, 2023 at Kachigam Police Station.INVESTIGATION:Two accused Irfan Sakir Ahmad (25) and Sherkhan Parvin (22), were arrested onJanuary 12, 2025, from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Their associate, auto driver RadhekumarLato Yadav (21), was arrested on January 13, 2025.During interrogation, the accused revealed the involvement of the gang’s mastermind,Barkatali, who trained them in hypnotism and coordinated their crimes, taking a 50% share ofthe proceeds. As per the directions of Hon’ble Superintendent of Police, Daman Shri KetanBansal, IPS, SHO Kachigam Police Station Shri Shashi Kumar Singh formed a Police team withthe directions to proceed at Outer North District, DelhiWith the assistance of local Police, accused Barkatali S/o Asafali was arrested onJanuary 18, 2025, from Bhalswa Dairy, Outer North District, Delhi. The Police team sent at Delhiwas lead by Head Constable Ashish Trivedi.MODUS OPERANDI OF THE GANG:The gang primarily targets socially and economically vulnerable women by approachingthem under the guise of spiritual guidance. They use chemical compounds like sodium to createdeceptive “divine” effects, gaining the victims’ trust before stealing their valuables.GANG PROFILE:The accused admitted to committing over 200 such crimes across the country, targetingvictims in Gujarat, Maharashtra, UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Delhi, UttarPradesh, Haryana other regions. Known as the “Madari Gang,” they exploited vulnerableindividuals using superstitions and hypnotism.PROFILE OF ARRESTED PERSON:-1) Barkatali S/o Asafali, Age-32 yrs, D. O. B 01/01/1993Native Address: House No. 13, Kalander Colony, Durga Chowk, Bhalaswa Dairy, Outer NorthDistrict, Delhi, Aadhar Card No. 9310 9679 7478.During the investigation of the accused it has been revealed that he was arrested in onecheating case at Moti Nagar Police Station, Delhi and had been in Tihar Jail. - CURRENT STATUS:Previously arrested accused no. 1, 2 & 3 are in Judicial Custody and the accusedBarkatali is in 03 days of Police custody at Kachigam Police Station following orders from theHon’ble JMFC, Daman in connection with Kachigam PS FIR No. 06/2025. Further Investigationsare ongoing in this case.
- APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC:The Police urge citizens to remain cautious of strangers using deceptive spiritualpractices and to report suspicious activities immediately.
